Sanctuary Garden, RHCYP Edinburgh

We have been appointed as landscape architects for design upgrade of the courtyard garden within new Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh.

The focus was to provide a beautiful, fully accessible and welcoming setting. Based on research and our experience on other healthcare projects, we created a variety of spaces allowing for a wide range of activities that support residents’ wellbeing. 

The planting was carefully considered to explore the relationship between the residents and the plants and to reference local landscapes and flora. The space includes a woodland shaded area, sunny terrace with scented sensory planting, parkland with mounded perennial beds, growing area with raised planters and SUDS pond with native wildflower meadows.upgrade of the
