This  redesign of the  front and back garden at a property in Longniddry was completed in Autumn 2022. The aspect of the north/ south plot means that though the back garden benefits from sun, the front garden is north facing and so therefore largely shaded. This was an established, mature garden with a wide collection of trees, shrubs and perennials.

 For the back garden, we looked to largely retain the structure, and create a contemporary more youthful interpretation of a traditional garden, with its lawn, beds and borders. We wanted to bring some lightness and balance to it, with the introduction of more trees, and a more contemporary planting palette. For the front garden, our brief was very clear; to create a coastal garden. Our challenge was to create that light and airy coastal feel within an existing north-facing garden.
